Prematurity and Ways to Deal with Learning Difficulties

Prematurity and Ways to Deal with Learning Difficulties (Source:pbsparent) Pre-term birth is defined as being born before the 37 weeks age of gestation. A child who was born within this range is considered as a premature. Common issues among premature babies are their social and developmental difficulties, physical problems and learning disadvantage that is probably brought by medical complications at birth and an early environment that does provide adequate stimulation.  For me, it is a mere stereotype for people born too soon, almost all people I knew who are in that same shoe doesn't present the problems at all as enumerated above. Some were even board topnotchers and very successful in life. Others just live normally like everybody else. However, being premature plus combination of other serious factors could lead to brain alteration that may lead to learning problems in the future. For some, it is true perhaps depending on the severity of prematurity. Alth...

9 Tips to Pass the Nursing Board Exam There are tons of nursing sites that give tips on how to pass the nursing board exam or even to ace it and they show almost the same things. Today, I will give another perspective that will guide on what to do study and thus, passing the board. I am just a recent board passer and it may give you a tinge of doubt on the post's credibility. But I already went on this journey and I just want to share how these strategies worked for me. So let's start! ^^ 1. Know Past Experience. Asking someone who had the experience will help you condition your mind on what to expect when taking the board exam. They would definitely share the hard work sand heart tugging moments when they took the board. It will create you a mental picture of the whole scenario which would prompt you to prepare and be serious on your review.   2. Check Your Motivation Gauge. Are you now on a serious mode? You should be. Your application for board exam is non-...

What To Do While Waiting For PNLE Result

What To Do While Waiting For PNLE Result Calm down future nurses.  Life never stop after submitting your NPT5 booklet and scantron. I know, you were also forced to donate your pencils and erasers before you leave the room. It's not about that. Our thoughts shouldn't be wasted by  'what-if-I-fail' mentality. There's so much to be done and it's the perfect time to plot our future as RNs.   1. Rest for the first week. Every soon-to-be-RNs deserves a long and a good rest. After struggling 4 years in Nursing School and a month of mental torture at the review center, it pays to have a good one. Students have several ways to give themselves a break like playing sports and traveling around Philippines, reading books or simply wallowing like a pig in their beds. It's just okay. Just don't abuse drugs and/or join daily drinking sprees to pay your hardships. 2. Build a resume. A week or two is probably enough to de-stress and move on t...

5 Bad Experiences to Expect During the Nursing Review   Now I can tell myself, I had move-on from the board exam fever last May 30-31 at MLQU. Pass or fail, I have accepted them and I am very much thankful for that one of a kind nerve wracking experience. If I fail the test, at least I got to write some demotivators for soon board takers to read. Kidding aside, these were just five bad experiences I had while I'm on my extensive nursing review. It's up to you to believe and take measures to avoid them (even if they are unavoidable). 1. The sleepless nights. Admit it. You get so pissed with your reviewers every time they ask you to answer take home exams with 250 plus items. They seem injustice to us, right? Just imagine your whole day doing nothing but to think and to listen ( and to go to the bathroom once in a while). And yet, these exam would try to steal another 3 more hours from your precious sleep. You may say, it's really ridiculous, but  ...
