What To Do While Waiting For PNLE Result

What To Do While Waiting For PNLE Result

Calm down future nurses.

Life never stop after submitting your NPT5 booklet and scantron. I know, you were also forced to donate your pencils and erasers before you leave the room. It's not about that. Our thoughts shouldn't be wasted by  'what-if-I-fail' mentality. There's so much to be done and it's the perfect time to plot our future as RNs.

1. Rest for the first week. Every soon-to-be-RNs deserves a long and a good rest. After struggling 4 years in Nursing School and a month of mental torture at the review center, it pays to have a good one. Students have several ways to give themselves a break like playing sports and traveling around Philippines, reading books or simply wallowing like a pig in their beds. It's just okay. Just don't abuse drugs and/or join daily drinking sprees to pay your hardships.

2. Build a resume. A week or two is probably enough to de-stress and move on to the next wise step to do and that is to build your resume. Gather Curriculum Vitae/ Resume template from internet or any other source. Start collecting certificates you earn from college. Emphasize your skills and start writing them out. Make it as attractive as possible, remember that you are a fresher and you should have some edge to float in the competitive professional arena.

3. Start anew by practicing a healthy lifestyle. This is the best time to care of yourself. Nourish your self with foods full of vitamins and minerals like vegetables and fruits. Drink a regular 8 glasses of water daily. Eat foods in moderation. Take vitamins and supplements. Make a routine exercise program at least three times a week. I go for a jog everyday at 5 am to start it right. You may go to the gym if you prefer building some muscles or lose weight accordingly. This is the best time to condition your body before venturing into the more stressful hospital life.

4. Build your contacts and start to look for a job. Don't just stay in the house doing nothing worthwhile with yourself and your career. Start looking for a job! May it be part-time or full time while you wait for the result to come out. I don't know if I have the same perception with everyone reading this post, but I am ashame to be a burden to anyone. We are now declared officially unemployed and we need to push ourselves to be dependent no more.

Volunteerism is a way of building contacts as one contribute his/her skills and knowledge in the progress of community in terms of their health. One can become a volunteer in medical missions, blood donations or directly in an institution that accepts unlicensed health workers who just want to have actual hospital experience.

5. Pray

Prayers of the righteous are the most powerful tool to overcome any fear and uncertainty. When you pray you leave everything to God. No matter what will be the result, you are always assured that everything happens according to His will. The best feeling is you can have Someone to hold on when you have doubts in yourself. The best feeling of assurance is to have a God who is always watching over you.

P.S.
Don't go over the exam questions and answers with another examinees. Just ignore it, that will just give you more anxieties. Leave everything to God.
